Entrepreneurial Blog #12

 For this week I had to write a book report on Hero's Journey Field Guide. A Field Guide for the Hero's Journey is not a conventional business or self-help book. This is a collection of information and knowledge from entrepreneurs and educators that demonstrate the hero's journey. Some concepts were taken from Joseph Campbell's original hero model; however, this guide asks the reader to do some sort of meaningful work. This also involves embarrassing challenges and living your life with dignity and serving others. By using different stories and quotes the authors are able to grasp concepts that can assist an individual in becoming a hero not just in professional life but in life as well. One of the key concepts that stood out for me in the book was the idea of "Answering the Call". 

The authors talk about how every single one of us has a unique calling and deep purpose that may be beyond money or status. Not everyone will answer their call; some take the easy way out or fear failure. The authors challenge other individuals to do a work that represents their innermost values and passions in life. For me personally, this helped to make me more steadfast on my position in going after a business I have faith in. In the book, it also argues that authenticity is worthwhile. The book stresses how important community and mentorship is. In the chapter titled; "Find Guides and Fellow Travelers," the authors take some time elaborating on the fact that if you are surrounded by mentors and supportive peers, there is plenty you can get from that for your benefit. 

The notion makes it vividly apparent that any hero would not complete the journey alone. We as individuals are shaped by others who are able to challenge us, inspire us, and even be with us. Being able to take time to go seek other people's wisdom is able to assist us with our activities. Also, how I can better myself so that I am able to be a source of guidance for other individuals in my life.

One of my favorite things that I ended up learning was how this course was meant as a way to develop my life plan before I go and develop a business plan. Entrepreneurial Blog#2

 This week in class we did a cool assignment where we created a list of 50 things that we wanted to do in our lives. I had a hard time with this just due to the sheer amount of ideas that I had to come up with. However, after thinking about and asking around I eventually came up with a list of 50 things that I wanted to get out of my own life. Some of the ideas definitely stuck out more for me than others such as the big three that I ended up choosing for the discussion. The top three that I ended up choosing from my bucket list ended up being: be kind to myself, engage in acts of kindness weekly, and start my own business/side hustle. Being kind to myself is always my goal throughout my day. I sometimes can get down on myself for not being too great at certain things and I always try to remember the good in my life and all the other amazing things that I could be thinking about. Entrepreneurial Blog #10

This week's issue is dedicated to entrepreneurship and self-improvement in the light of several readings and videos on what is needed to succeed in business and life. All of the readings were helpful in term of what it takes to be an entrepreneur. The readings include "The Challenge to Become" and "The Heart of Entrepreneurship" that emphasize the mindset and traits needed to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit. The videos "Think Big," "License to Pursue Dreams," "Acton Hero Kathy Huber," and "Your Emotional Fingerprint" further illustrate these concepts through the telling stories of real-life instances and points of view. The personal transformation in "The Challenge to Become" includes a personal transformation towards achieving one's maximum potential.
